Obviously, you and I grew up in different culture. I’m not saying that these people are higher class; just merely mentioned it as reference to an old tradition. Again, I’m not so much in favour of arranged marriage, but I do not think it is pathetic nor are offspring from it socially incapable.
For one, my parent married under arrangement. Am I mommy’s boy? I left home to study abroad at age 15, on my own… (well, with a bit of support)
Maybe it’s the case under your culture….
“In old days, many were matched with arranged marriage, especially those in higher class. Also, is it NOT pathetic to get married in name of love, only to get divorced with irreconcilable differences a few years”
agreed on in the name of love part, but…1. are these high class people? I don’t think so 2. marrige based on Conditions? I don’t think so 3. this is not the Old Days Still, arranged marriages exist. Normally, kids of such parents are either mommy’s boys or a “paracite girl” at home
Is it? As much as I don’t like the idea of arranged marriage, of which this is one form, I am not so sure that it’s pathetic. In old days, many were matched with arranged marriage, especially those in higher class. Also, is it NOT pathetic to get married in name of love, only to get divorced with irreconcilable differences a few years later…. if it takes that long. Meanwhile kids from such failed marriage are the ones have to pay the price. Which is pathetic???
